About Christine’s Cabinet
Christine’s Cabinet began as a place to gather things I love.
I’ve always been drawn to vintage furniture, curious objects, and the quiet satisfaction of arranging a space with intention. Cabinets, especially, feel like small worlds. They hold collections, stories, half-finished ideas, and treasured pieces that don’t need to shout to be seen. The name is a nod to cabinets of curiosities, personal archives built slowly, guided by curiosity rather than rules.
This website is an extension of that impulse. Christine’s Cabinet is where I collect and share my work across embroidery, drawing, bookbinding, and pattern design. Some pieces are meant to be stitched, some are meant to be learned from, and others are simply meant to be lived with.
At its heart, this is a space for careful making and quiet experimentation. I’m interested in process as much as outcome, in building systems that invite play, and in filling my studio and my life with things I genuinely adore.
Christine’s Cabinet is still growing. Thank you for opening the door and spending time here.
About purplishorangegiraffe
purplishorangegiraffe is my embroidery-focused practice, rooted in color, texture, and a deep affection for houseplants. The name came from a love of unexpected combinations, colors that shouldn’t quite work but do, and the quiet joy of letting curiosity lead the way.
My embroidery centers on thread painting and botanical forms, often inspired by the plants that fill my home and studio. I’m drawn to saturated color, layered stitches, and the slow, meditative process of building depth one thread at a time. Many of my designs are created as modular systems, inviting stitchers to mix, match, and make something uniquely their own.
Alongside finished embroidery, I design patterns and stitch-ready tools meant to support learning, experimentation, and confidence at the hoop. Teaching is an important part of my practice. I’ve taught embroidery through RISD Continuing Education, and my approach is grounded in clarity, patience, and an encouragement to develop your own visual language through making.
purplishorangegiraffe is both a studio practice and an ongoing conversation. It’s a place to explore color boldly, stitch thoughtfully, and enjoy the small dramas that unfold between fabric and thread.
